Making a claim
The following outlines some of the cover you may already have, which could cover your claim.
| Incident |
Possible Cover |
| Broken spectacles |
Do you have a 6-month contract for defects?
Do you have a 2-year contract for minor repairs?
Most new spectacles include some additional protection.
|
| Lost mobile phone |
Have you got separate insurance for your mobile?
Are you entitled to a free mobile phone upgrade?
|
|
Damaged electrical or household goods, for example a TV, DVD player or washing machine
|
Most new electrical or household items carry a minimum one-year free standard warranty.
Is the item still in warranty?
Have you purchased an extended warranty?
Extended warranties cover accidental damage and normal wear and tear.
Small value items often have an instant replacement service.
Freezers often have unlimited frozen cover.
|
|
Damaged windows, doors, conservatories, soffits, fascias, guttering, down pipes or cladding
|
Do you have a 10 or 15-year warranty?
(Note, these will often not cover accidental damage from breakage or attempted break ins.)
Guarantees can be transferred from one owner to another in the event of a property sale, so even
if you are not the original buyer, the warranty may still be valid.
|
| Gas, water and electrical heated boilers problems |
Depending on the purchase company you may have a warranty or maintenance contract ranging from 1 to 10 years.
