The Saga Claims Service

The test of your car insurance comes when you need to make a claim. We aim to ensure that every claim is dealt with quickly and with minimum fuss. With Saga, there are usually no forms to fill in and no written estimates to obtain. You can also report your claim out of hours, as our lines are open 24 hours a day.

What to do in the event of an accident

Following an accident it is essential that you collect as much information as possible, particularly when a third party is involved.

Details that you need to collect should include the following:

  • Name and address of the third party
  • A contact telephone number
  • Vehicle registration number, make and model
  • Insurance company and policy number (if known)
  • Take photos if you have a camera and sketch a drawing of the incident or accident. Make notes on the weather and driving conditions
  • If there are witnesses take their names, addresses and telephone numbers.

Reporting a claim

It would help you and us, if you reported any accident or incident immediately. Call the Saga Car Insurance claim line on 0845 302 0218 straightaway and give us the full details.

If, in our opinion, the circumstances are clearly not your fault and we can confirm the third party insurer from the information you provide, your excess can be waived and your No Claim Discount maintained.

What our claims service offers

Our claims service includes elements that are unique to Saga or that you may have to pay extra for if you insure your vehicle elsewhere. Our Comprehensive cover offers the following subject to policy terms and conditions:

Replacement car

We will give you a replacement car if your own is being repaired following an insured incident in the UK, and you use our Partnership Repairer Network.

We will ensure that the replacement car will cater for your driving requirements, i.e. manual or automatic. You will have full use of this car while your vehicle is repaired, for a maximum of 14 days, or until a total loss offer is made, whichever is sooner.

'Get you home' cover

You can claim up to £300 for travelling expenses and hotel accommodation costs incurred following an accident.
