Saga Secure Savings Account Monthly Interest
  Interest Rates
Balance AER* Gross** Net***

£1,000 +

Based on the Bank of England Base Rate of 5.00%. Interest rates are correct as at 1st May 2008.

Rates are variable and subject to change.

  • An attractive interest rate securely linked to the Bank of England Base Rate
  • Easy access to your savings by telephone. Lines are open 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday for account transactions
  • Easy access to all your funds by telephone
  • No penalties for withdrawing funds
  • Save from £1000
  • Interest paid monthly or annually
  • Provided by Birmingham Midshires, a division of Bank of Scotland plc

Whereas other accounts may tempt you in with an initially high rate, only to become less competitive when the offer period ends, the very least the Saga Secure Savings Account will pay is 0.25% below the Bank of England base rate for balances of £1,000 and above.

This means that whatever happens to the base rate, your savings rate will rise or fall in response. This ensures that you will always receive a transparent return on your investment, without the need to keep switching accounts.

* AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and represents the rate effectively received by the customer if interest applied during a year remained in the account and itself earned interest. As every advert for a savings product (where a rate is displayed) will contain an AER, you will be able to compare more easily what return you can expect from your savings over time.

** Gross is the rate of interest paid without deduction of tax to eligible non-taxpayers.

***Net is the rate of interest paid after the deduction of tax at the current rate of 20%.
