How does the Saga Telephone Service work?
With the Saga Telephone Service, there are no codes to dial before calls and no boxes to plug into your phone line.
When you are signed up with the Saga Telephone Service, your calls are automatically carried by our service;
you just pick up the phone and dial. We use a service known as 'Carrier Pre-Selection' (CPS) so there is no need to
change your number or have a new line installed - the calls made on your BT line will be carried automatically by the
Saga Telephone Service.
How do I pay?
All calls made with the Saga Telephone Service are fully itemised, at no extra charge, and will be billed monthly.
Payment for the service is by Direct Debit and will be deducted from your account approximately 2 weeks after
you have received your bill, giving you plenty of time to arrange your funds. BT will continue to bill you as
usual for any line or equipment service charges.
What is a set-up fee?
A set up fee is a charge that is applied to every non-local and non-national call, i.e. numbers not beginning 01 or 02
Is it easy to switch from my current provider?
It takes just one call to set up the service - all we need is your postcode and BT phone number.

Can anyone sign up?
Anyone aged 50 and over with a BT line can sign up for the service, you will continue to pay your line rental to BT.
However, we are not permitted to provide our service to BT customers who use the Low User Scheme; in this case, you would
need to obtain confirmation from BT that this scheme has been removed before applying for the Saga Telephone Service.
What equipment do I need to connect to the service?
Once you have signed up with us, you do not need any further equipment to be able to make savings using the Saga Telephone Service.
No dialling special codes or plugging boxes into the wall - subject to BT, your calls will automatically start to route via our
service from around 20 days after we receive your application.
Is there a minimum period of commitment to the service?
There is no minimum period of commitment to our service but if you do decide to cancel,
please allow at least 20 working days for the cancellation to be processed.

Will I continue receiving bills from BT?
You will continue to receive a bill from BT for your line rental as well as for calls to directory assistance,
Select Services such as Call Minder and Call Display, and those using the 1471-3 'Ringback' service, amongst others.
BT will also remain responsible for maintaining your line.
I am a cable customer - can I use the service?
Unfortunately we are only able to provide our service to those customers with BT lines.
I have a BT line but use another company's saver socket/dialler box. Will this affect your service?
If you have another company's saver socket please unplug this and plug your telephone directly into the socket.
We would also recommend contacting the provider of your saver socket to cancel your account with them.
If you leave the dialler plugged in this will override the Saga Telephone Service and you may find that you do not
make the savings you were expecting.
I have a Home Highway or ISDN line at home - can I have the Saga Telephone Service on this line?
Yes, CPS can be activated on Home Highway. To ensure a full service, you will need to inform us of all
the numbers that BT has given you.
Does 1571 answer still work?
Yes, 1571 answering service still works as before.
However, for this service to be provided free of charge you must access it by dialling 1571.
