Saga Van Insurance Claims Service
The true test of your van insurance comes when you need to make a claim. We ensure that every claim is dealt with quickly and with the minimum amount of fuss. With Saga, there are usually no forms to fill in and no written estimates to obtain. You can also report your claim at any time - our lines are open 24 hours a day.

If you are a customer needing to make a claim, please call our 24-hour claim line on 0800 389 1115

What to do if you are involved in an accident

  • By law, you are required to immediately stop.
  • Check to see if anyone is injured.
  • If someone is injured and/or the accident is one of a more serious nature you must call the emergency services. Make a note of the incident number given to you by the police - you may need this to assist your claim.
  • No matter who you believe to be at fault do not admit liability.

Important details to gather

When you contact us we will require your personal details, including your policy number. You will also need to provide full details of the incident, including:

  • Names, addresses and telephone numbers of all those involved (e.g drivers, passengers, pedestrians and witnesses).
  • Vehicle make, model, colour, registration number and number of occupants.
  • Insurance details for all vehicles involved. These include the name of the insurance company and policy number. Remember to exchange the same details with all those involved.
  • Draw a sketch map (or take photos if you have a camera available) of what happened, including road names, the positioning of vehicles and damage sustained to all the vehicles involved.

If your van, accessories or spare parts have been lost or are stolen you need to contact the police as soon as possible. Make a note of the crime reference number they give you as you may need this to assist you in making a claim.

Making a claim

  • You need to report the incident as soon as possible. Our lines are open 24 hours a day seven days a week. Please note that this is a condition of your policy.
  • If your van is damaged you must do what you reasonably can to protect your van and accessories. Please check your insurance schedule and policy booklet to make sure the claim is covered. If you are in any doubt call the claims line on 0800 389 1115.
  • A dedicated claims handler will guide you and if the claim is covered, will advise you of the benefits available depending on your cover level and options chosen.
  • Remember you will need to pay the policy excess - please refer to your policy schedule if you are unsure of the amount. If the claim is deemed not to be your fault you will receive this amount back.

Comprehensive Cover benefits included as standard:

Accident Recovery
If you are involved in an accident, we will send out someone from the RAC to help. If your van cannot immediately be made roadworthy, we will arrange for it to be taken to our nearest recommended repairer. This service is provided at no extra cost.

Nationwide Network of Partnership Repairers
If your van needs to be repaired, we have a national network of partnership repairers. If you choose to use one of these you will not need to obtain repair estimates and work can start on your damaged van without delay. To ensure a high standard of service and repair work, all partnership repairers have been specifically chosen and all repair work comes with a three-year warranty. If required, we can also arrange for your van to be collected and delivered to you. Subject to policy terms and conditions.

New Van Replacement
If you are the first registered keeper of a van less than six months old which is stolen and not recovered, or is damaged beyond economical repair, we will replace it with a new one.

Glass Repair
If your van's windows get broken or damaged, we can arrange for them to be replaced or repaired. If the broken glass damages your van's bodywork we will also arrange for this to be repaired. Making a claim under this section will not affect your No Claim Discount. There is nothing to pay if we can repair the glass, however if it needs replacing there is an excess of £60 to pay.

Personal Injury
If you, your spouse, or partner are unfortunate enough to be injured in an incident involving your van, you have the reassurance of knowing that we will pay up to £3000 to cover a range of injuries.
