Welcome to Saga Respite for Carers Trust

The aim of Saga Respite for Carers Trust is to give carers a break, by providing hundreds of free holidays a year for carers and their companions

After a terrific response to the inaugural year of the Trust, nominations for the first round of awards are now closed.

More than 1,000 people visited the online nomination page or sent a nomination by post. The Trustees will be assessing the nominations over the next couple of months and the successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the Trustees' decision to make an award.

The Carers Trust is ongoing, with the online nomination form for the Trust's second year available from January 2009 and remaining open until August 31, 2009. Nominees who were unsuccessful in 2008 will be able to re-apply for 2009.

To qualify as a nominee you must be over 50, have been caring for someone for more than a year, not taken a significant holiday away from your caring responsibilities for more than a year, and not be a professional carer.
