Boat insurance

Sometimes accidents do happen and you need to make a claim. This is the time when you really appreciate being insured by a company that does things properly. Here are some examples of how we have helped our customers:

“In essence, my claim should have been simple as my boat (Rainbow) was moored to a quayside in a small Greek harbour, when someone else drove their chartered boat into it. However, I have now learned that these things are never easy. The other skipper was Norwegian and although he freely admitted he was at fault, the charter company denied he had done the damage. In addition the Greek insurance company were incredibly slow in responding to various points.

The claim dragged on from June 2009 to January 2010 and throughout it all, Saga never lost contact with me and were always patient and supportive. Eventually, when it looked as if the Greek insurance company were simply going to ignore the claim, I was offered a settlement from Saga. However, I rejected this as it did not seem fair or reasonable for your company to pay out, when clearly it was an issue for the other party. Nevertheless, the support I was given at the time was greatly appreciated.

The case was eventually resolved and I was very happy with the customer support I received from Saga, from the first telephone call in Greece, shortly after the incident, to the final satisfactory conclusion. I also insure my car with Saga and in all of my dealings with you, I have found nothing but polite, efficient, helpful and supportive staff who are a credit to your company and leave your customers with that warm, reassuring feeling that ‘everything will be sorted out’.”
