How to make a claim

At Saga, we operate a straightforward 24-hour claims line, with no need, in the majority of cases, for you to complete any forms. This is a simple and personal process, with advice and help when you need it, and therefore helps to take some of the worry out of a stressful time. All our advisers are based in the UK and you will speak to a person rather than an automated telephone menu. This can make a big difference if you need to make a claim.

In the event of a claim

Accidents can happen, so should you need to make a claim, all you need to do is call Saga.

Before you do, it is worth checking any other warranties or insurance contracts you may have. This is because for some items, such as a mobile phone, you may have separate insurance that will cover this claim. In some cases using alternative insurances may mean the excess you are required to pay is less or not applicable.

Who should you call?

If you wish to make a claim on your home insurance policy, please first check your Schedule and policy to make sure that you are covered for the type of claim. Then contact Saga on the appropriate number shown in your Schedule. Our claims lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

When you call we will ask for your name, address and policy number. We will also take some relevant details and where possible try to sort out your claim without asking you to complete a claim form. If we do need a claim form, we will send it to you within two working days. We would respond to you within five working days from either receiving your call or receiving your completed claim form.

To ensure your claim is processed smoothly we ask that you tell us of any claim as soon as is reasonably possible and supply any supporting documentation that is requested. This will help us give the advice, support and reassurance you need and offer immediate practical assistance.
