Holiday home during winter

Holiday homes can be left for a number of weeks at a time and during the winter months; this could allow the condition of the house to deteriorate. Below are a few helpful tips to minimise the risk to houses left empty during the winter.

Give your key to a local friend who can check on the house – this reduces the risk of weather damage and deters burglars
Install a thermostat timer so you can have the heating on for limited periods of the day
Draining the pipes and radiators completely reduces the risk of these cracking
Check for any cracks or leaks and make sure they are fixed before you leave
Clean the gutters before you leave the house.
