Currently one in four people over the age of 50 suffer from hypertension, in which the blood pressure is chronically elevated. Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes and heart attacks. Consequently, many medical insurers have denied cover for the condition itself, as well as the conditions associated with it. However, at Saga we are concerned that hypertension so often excludes people from the medical insurance they are looking for or prevents them from switching providers.
