Saga Private Medical Insurance

Saga Targeted Healthcare range

Our low cost Targeted Healthcare range of policies provides prompt, private healthcare for specific condition that more commonly affect people aged 50 and over. Arthritis, eye problems, hernias and varicose veins, for example, are all common complaints that can impair your enjoyment of life and interrupt your daily routine. Despite this, the NHS considers them to be non–urgent, so they are prone to long waits and the last–minute cancellation of operations. This therefore makes private treatment a very desirable alternative. We offer a choice of three policies, with each one providing cover for extra conditions. You simply choose the policy that best suits your own requirements and budget.

  • The Saga Joints Replacement Plan concentrates on renewing hips, knees and wrists etc.
  • Saga Key Treatments includes additional cover for cataracts and other eye conditions, hernias, varicose veins and gall bladder removal.
  • Saga Key Treatments + Heart extends the cover by adding valuable cover for your heart.

All the advantages of private healthcare

Since this range of policies concentrates on treating specific, common conditions, they are able to offer significantly lower premiums than standard health plans — yet they do not compromise on the quality of hospital care. Whichever option you choose, you will have access to a comprehensive choice of private hospitals and you will enjoy all the main benefits of private medical insurance.

This means that you can expect a private room (usually en suite) with a TV, a varied menu of good food and unrestricted visiting hours for your friends and family. You can even decide when to be treated, for example if you want your operation to fit in with your work or social life. It’s also worth remembering that some treatments demand quite a long stay in hospital (up to ten days for a hip or knee replacement, for example), so comfortable surroundings can make all the difference to your well–being and recuperation.

Out–patient cover

Saga Targeted Healthcare includes out–patient benefit to ensure that you can see a specialist quickly and receive a prompt diagnosis. Expensive diagnostic scans, such as CT and MRI, are covered in full and there should also be sufficient benefit for post–operative follow–up consultations and physiotherapy.

Health Information Line

This range of policies also includes access to the Saga Health Information Line, a confidential freephone helpline staffed by healthcare professionals. They will be able to talk to you about your individual healthcare needs and you can request fact sheets about the conditions covered by the policy or any other health matters which may concern you or your family.
