What to do in the event of an accident

Following an accident it is essential that you collect as much information as possible, particularly when a third party is involved. Details that you need to collect should include the following:

• Name and address of the third party
• A contact telephone number
• Vehicle registration number, make and model
• Insurance company and policy number (if known)
• Take photos if you have a camera and sketch a drawing of the incident or accident
• Make notes on the weather and driving conditions
• If there are witnesses take their names, addresses and telephone numbers.
