While the vitamin C in the fruit may not prevent you getting a cold, research suggests it helps immune systems to reduce a cold’s symptoms and duration. The pumpkin seeds add zinc, which seems to help to protect against viruses.

How to make

  • 150ml (5fl oz) pink grapefruit juice
  • 50g (2oz) frozen strawberries
  • 50g (2oz) frozen raspberries
  • 100g (4oz) low-fat Greek yoghurt
  • Handful pumpkin seeds

Combine the juice, yoghurt and frozen berries in a blender until smooth. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4 , scatter the pumpkin seeds on a baking tray and drizzle with a little olive oil. Roast until the seeds are golden brown - about 10 minutes.
