Each garden in our directory contains at least one picture of the garden, a detailed description, contact details, directions and information on opening times, entrance charges and facilities

Wheelchair suitability

The garden is partly or wholly negotiable for someone in a wheelchair. If a house or other building is also open, it may or may not be suitable for wheelchairs.

They are allowed in the property on leads (although often in restricted areas).

Plants for sale

These are often propagated on site, but may also be brought in from a commercial source for re-sale.

Shop

A sales outlet on the premises, such as National Trust shops, those selling souvenirs, etc.

Events

These range from large-scale and national to low-key and local, and may be held during, or in addition to, normal garden open times.

Children-friendly

Some owners pay particular attention to expanding the attractions for the whole family while other gardens are intriguing to children by their very design and content.
