Sussex is renowned for its splendid displays of bluebells, perhaps nowhere more so than at Kew's country garden.
Wakehurst Place, near Haywards Heath, boasts acre upon acre of hyacinthoides non scripta (our native English bluebell) which provide a magnificent floral carpet against a stunning backdrop of white birch barks from the National Collection.
This year, staff at Wakehurst are staging special weekends to make the most of both the bluebells and other native spring flowers such as primroses and milkmaids.
