French adventure
Reader Pam Coakley reports from South West France, where she and her husband have created their dream life
My husband and I were childhood sweethearts but once we started work our lives moved in different directions.
Many years later when I was 39 and Mike was 41 we met up again; both of us divorced with two children each.
We married two years later and had the usual ups and downs raising four children together. In 2004, at the age of 62 and 64 respectively we decided it was at last our time, and we were ready for one last adventure.
We moved into a lovely village in France along with our beloved cat and dog. I cannot say how happy we are. Tired, sometimes exhausted, as we have lots of work in the house and garden to do, but we look out of our window over our own little lake and at the end of the garden the river ambles along.
We have made many friends both English and French and our social life is better than it has ever been. Family and friends are always arriving. If there was a crisis we can be in the UK the next day.
Money is tight, we live on our pensions but we are short of nothing. In the summer we have long lazy days and in the winter have long walks through the woods and return to a huge log fire. BLISS.
