Can I have more than one entry phone?

John Conlin / 25 January 2017

Chartered surveyor John Conlin advises a reader on installing an extra entry phone receiver.

Question

For security I had an entry phone fitted to my front door with a telephone type receiver in the hall, but I always seem to be in the wrong place when it rings and my walking is getting difficult.

Would it be practical to have extensions in all the rooms?

Answer

It is probably possible but it would depend on the power output of the entry phone.

As an alternative, you could consider having the entry phone linked to your mobile phone. I have come across this several times.

One user told me she could answer callers to her door in London and tell them where to leave a parcel even though she was on a beach in Spain!
