A satellite dish pointing to the sky for better TV reception

Question

We get a lot of TV interference via a loft aerial and engineers say that we need to change to Freesat reception but this would need a satellite dish and our house is listed. 

Are we likely to get permission?

Answer

Satellite dishes have to point in a particular direction. Approval might be given if an inconspicuous position can be found but it is entirely up to the planning authority. 

I have known instances where even permission for a burglar alarm bell box has been refused. However, if you have a reasonably sized garden a solution may be to mount the dish 3 or 4 feet above ground level on a post away from the house.
