No Saga cruise leaves port without a troupe of bands and musicians stowed away – just part of the lively programme of on-board entertainment, day and night. Here are just a handful of the special guests who’ll be taking to the stage in 2016…
Bringing to life all the drama and showtunes of the world’s most famous musicals, The WestEnders proved such a hit with Saga guests last year, they’ve been given an encore! Made up of six talented theatre performers, between them they’ve appeared in over 20 of the most popular and prestigious West End shows such as Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Miss Saigon and Oliver! The group will be bringing back their staged concert performance on two cruises – Baltic Capitals and A Festive Cruise to the Canaries – in an exclusive setting just for Saga guests.
The Irish House Party
Step aboard and sail Around Britain and Ireland this August for an exclusive show from The Irish House Party! Back by popular demand, the band’s gigs are consistently voted one of the Top Ten things to do in Dublin, attending their resident party of lively, Irish music and dancing. But rather than have to secure a ticket to the show, the talented musicians will be bringing the show on board, live in the Britannia Lounge! Look forward to sharing a great night of Celtic celebration in true Irish style.
Fans of the 60s, the decade that saw an explosion of pop music onto the scene, will be delighted by the sounds of The Zoots. Receiving rave reviews from publications such as The Stage, they bring to life hits from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Who, putting their own spin on the classics you know and love. It’s a live show that delivers nostalgia in spades. Want to see The Zoots revamped show for yourself? Don’t miss the rocking Christmas Markets cruise!
Colin Bryant’s Hot Rhythm Orchestra
The HRO have built up a loyal following on Saga’s ships with their lively shows of jazz and swing, and they’re making a very welcome return in 2016 on the Mediterranean Christmas cruise. Described as ‘the small band with the Big Band sound’ they perform world-class jazz shows with superb musicianship and a touch of humour. Bringing to life dance music of the 30s, 40s and 50s to salute jazz greats Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, it’s toe-tapping entertainment at its best. The talented musicians have gained many fans over the years from their television appearances and shows aboard QE2 – where they were a resident band for three decades – and of course Saga’s small ships too. So it’s by popular demand that they’re back on board this Christmastime – don’t miss it.
