www.est.org.uk

The Energy Saving Trust provides advice for companies and homeowners on how to make buildings more energy efficient. This includes information on the use of solar power to provide electricity or hot water, as well as general tips on efficiency. There is also information on grants available for some types of energy saving building work.

www.co2balance.com

It's now generally accepted that carbon dioxide emissions contribute to the greenhouse effect. This site looks at several lifestyle issues to help individuals calculate the levels of CO2 they are responsible for, and offers advice and links about what can be done to reduce it.

www.ethiscore.org

Although it's not strictly about energy or the environment, Ethiscore rates producers and services based on how ethical they are. This is based on 20 categories, in which each item is judged. The site requires payment to look at all the information but there is plenty of free detail too, including a scorecard of the day, showing common brands and how they rate.

www.energywatch.org.uk

Energy Watch is the country's independent gas and electricity watchdog. It provides advice to make sure that consumers get the best deal from their energy suppliers. There is advice on the site concerning how to deal with suppliers, and if you are having problems with energy supply, use the contact links on the site to get in touch.
