Never too late to learn

There are currently almost a million courses available for mature students in Britain. From salsa dancing to social anthropology, from glass blowing to Ancient Greek, from lunchtime lectures to PhDs, there's something available to suit all tastes and levels

Why study now?

Many study for the sheer enjoyment of it. A stimulating lecture or short course can also be a way to meet new, like-minded people.

Others opt for a course resulting in a recognised qualification.

Those in search of a bit of mental gymnastics and a certificate can take a one-year Foundation course or an accredited vocational course that can lead to a change of life direction or increase employment prospects

A growing number of mature students are keen to invest the time and effort needed to study for the first degree, Masters or PhD they've always wanted to achieve, but never managed to fit in.

However tough the mental boot camp may seem the all-round benefits are immense. Mental aerobics are as important as physical exercise for general wellbeing.
