Stocks and Shares ISA

Please remember that shares are high-risk investments which means that their value, and the income from them, can fall as well as rise and you may not get back the full amount invested. Tax benefits

  • No Capital Gains Tax on any profit made within the ISA
  • 20% tax refund on income received on fixed interest securities (such as gilts and corporate bonds)
  • No loss of tax relief on remaining investments if you make a withdrawal


The maximum amount you are allowed to put into a Stocks and Shares ISA in the 2013/14 tax year is £11,520. However, if you choose to put cash into a Cash ISA (maximum £5,760) in the same tax year, only the remainder of the £11,520 allowance can be invested in the Stocks and Shares ISA.
