North East motorists among the safest in UK
- Motorists make almost 20% fewer claims than national average
- 35% less likely to claim for broken windscreen
Research from Saga Motor Insurance today reveals the regional differences between motor insurance claims in the UK.* It has indicated that drivers in the North East are among the safest in the country as they make 19% less claims than the UK average, making it the safest region in the country alongside Wales.
There are 35% less claims for windscreen damage in the North East, suggesting that there are fewer loose stones on the roads either because there is less resurfacing of road or the roads are generally in a better condition than most other areas.
People in the North East would also appear to be better drivers as 14% fewer people make claims for accidents than the national average, the second lowest accident rate in the country behind Wales.
