The summer of 2004 was blighted by stormy weather and will make the appeal of a holiday home in the sun stronger than ever. So for those planning to visit the Overseas Property Exhibitions at Olympia and looking to swap soggy showers for Sangria, Sauvignon and sunshine, Saga Holiday Home Insurance is offering free guides to buying a property in Spain and France and the chance to win free tickets to the shows.
Over one million Brits now own homes in France and Spain* and it has been predicted that by 2010, one in eight British over-55s will be living abroad**.
The guides include hints and tips on:
What to consider before choosing a location such as climate, landscape and the costs and benefits of buying in rural or urban areas
Practical information concerning the types of property available, including tips on how to choose between a modern apartment or a traditional villa - a quaint Chateau or a modern apartment
Advice concerning estate agents and other organisations available to help you select your holiday home
An introduction to conveyancing and the regulations surrounding house buying in Spain or France
Other considerations to bear in mind when buying a holiday home such as hobbies, health matters and residency permits
Saga Holiday Home Insurance is available to people aged 50 and over for properties in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and islands thereof in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.
