You don't have to be a top dog to afford pet insurance
New saver level of cover enables more people to insure their pets
Research by Saga Pet Insurance has highlighted that a number of pet owners could not afford life saving treatment for their pet. 32% of cat owners and 14% of dog owners would be forced to consider putting their pet down if it needed treatment costing 1,500 or more*.
The need for affordable insurance for those on lower budgets has prompted Saga Pet Insurance to launch a new Saver product to add to its comprehensive pet insurance portfolio. Saver cover insures against accidents and one off illnesses and covers owners if their pet causes an accident.
The Saga Saver Pet cover joins the "Essential" and "Super" options already offered by Saga to complete a suite of products to suit all pockets. With monthly premiums from 2.91 for a cat and 6.40 for a dog** pet owners can have peace of mind for much less than the price of a tin of pet food a day.
Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive said: "Many pet owners see pet insurance as something that they cannot afford, but in reality it is something that no-one need be without. Pets can get into all sorts of scrapes and bills can be high - for example, treating a dog's broken leg can cost 1,000."
