Saga customers defend post offices
The largest research panel of over 50s in the country reveals overwhelming support of their local Post Offices despite proposals confirmed today that the Government is planning over 3000 further closures.
According to the Saga Populus Panel, made up of 15,000 over 50s in the UK, over half (54%) say they have visited their Post Office in the last week and around the same amount (49%) say they visit at least once a fortnight.
Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive of Saga comments "With 42% of the population now aged over 50, their voice is a powerful one. Our panel have confirmed overwhelming support for local post offices, particularly at this time of year, but despite this the government is choosing to ignore this groundswell of public opinion"
Almost half (45%) of over 50s on the panel confirmed that they use their Post Office to send presents to friends and family at Christmas.
Notes to editors.
The Saga Populus Panel received 14,809 responses from adults aged 50 and over between 20th November and 7th December.
