Parents get 10/10 from grandparents, says Saga research
- One in three grandparents give their children top marks for their parenting skills
- 95% of the children of 'baby-boomers' think their parents did a good job bringing them up
As parents up and down the country celebrate Positive Parenting Week, research from leading over 50s experts Saga reveals that today's parents can feel secure in the knowledge that grandparents think they are doing a great job in raising their children.
When asked to rate their own children's parenting skills, one in three grandparents aged over 50 gave a stellar 10/10. Equally, today's parents think their own parents did a good job of bringing them up. Looking back at their own childhood, 95% of baby boomers' children say they appreciated what their parents did for them when they were growing up.
Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive of Saga Group, said: "We all know that being a parent is a difficult and sometimes thankless task, so it's good to know that today's parents are getting the seal of approval from the nation's grandparents, who have been there and done it. Grandparents play an increasingly important role in helping to raise the family, and it's great to see that each has a deep appreciation of each other's skills."
