Saga Magazine continues to demonstrate its unique position as the first choice for consumers aged 50 and over with an incredible 9% growth in subscription sales according to ABC figures released today.
In June 2006 Saga's paid for subscriptions stood at 542,860. Following a comprehensive review in 2006 a decision was taken to stop sending out free magazines to Saga prospects. This decision clearly contributed to the phenomenal growth announced today bringing subscription sales of Saga Magazine to 592,075.
Rupert Miles, Managing Director, Saga Publishing comments "Our decision last year has delivered an ABC audit based on growth in paying subscribers with a 9% increase from July to December, which is fantastic news for Saga Magazine. In fact, against the previous ABC period Saga Magazine showed the highest increase in active purchasers of any monthly magazine."
Stopping the free circulation has overcome the main objection to subscribing by Saga customers - namely that they get it free already. The decision also released funding to invest in the development of Saga's growing on-line content business.
