Whether it's archaeology, gardens, music or art, Saga's new river cruising brochure is packed full of themed itineraries to inspire its customers in 2008.

The leading operator for the over-50s has devised its latest programme of cruises with a strong focus on these special interest themes for passengers looking to get away next year.

A range of new cruises and new ships are also included in the brochure, while some cruises are exclusive to Saga clients, meaning that passengers can be confident of sharing their cruise with like-minded people.

Themed Cruises for 2008

Classical Music

For passengers wanting to combine the magical scenery of the Rhine with classical music, Saga is offering a superb seven night cruise aboard the intimate Amadeus Princess with prices starting from 899* per person. The Classical Music on the Rhine cruise includes a series of onboard concerts performed by a chamber orchestra, as well as optional concerts in venues such as Castle Schwetzingen in Heidelburg, and the Mainzer Dom is Mainz. Amadeus Princess also stops off in Amsterdam, Bonn, Rudesheim, Mannheim and Strasburg. The price includes full board, return flights, insurance and cancellation cover and much more.


Exclusively for Saga passengers, a six-night cruise along the Seine exploring the Gardens of France is available aboard Anacoluthe on 21 June and 5 July 2008. Hosted by horticultural expert Sue Minter, the trip will include visits to the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles, Monet's garden in Giverny and Princess Sturdza's garden. Uncover the mystery and intrigue of Egypt on an archaeology-themed tour and cruise with Saga, with prices starting from 1399 per person. Led by a local expert, the 11-night trip includes visits to Cairo, the Pyramids and the Aswan High Dam and Abu Simbel before customers embark the cruise ship Presidential Nile for a three night journey along the Nile. Stop-offs include the Edfu Temple, Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor. Departures take place on October 7 2007, and February 14, March 9, May 25, September 14 and November 9 in 2008.
