Spirit of Adventure's maiden call in Cardiff
The First Minister of Wales Rhoderi Morgan will be welcomed onboard the discovery cruise ship "Spirit of Adventure" when she makes her maiden call to Cardiff on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.
On arrival at the ship's berth in Cardiff at 0930, Matthew Kennerley, Port Director ABP South Wales Ports, will be making a presentation to Spirit of Adventure's Captain, Kees Spekman, and the Lord Mayor of Cardiff will be welcomed on board.
Captain Kees Spekman said "It is a particular pleasure to be sailing Spirit of Adventure to Cardiff and are honoured to welcome the First Minister and passengers on board. Cardiff is a dynamic vibrant capital city to add to our growing itinerary of worldwide destinations. Passengers who have been with us for a 4 night Maritime Ports of Ireland and Wales cruise will be disembarking and we will be welcoming new passengers for our delightful 7-night Celtic Legends cruise. We will also be loading supplies and local produce on board.
"A select number of local residents who expressed interest have been invited to join us on board for a Free-Spirited lunch. This gives an excellent opportunity to experience some of the service and cuisine we pride ourselves on."
Spirit of Adventure is small enough allowing her to get into most ports which most other liners have to avoid. Offering discovery cruises for over 21s, and carrying just 352 passengers each cruise is enhanced by a series of onboard lectures given by expert guest speakers. A range of optional and included excursions is available at most ports of call. A high ratio of crew to passengers' means you are assured of excellent service and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere on board.
