Saga launches car vandalism protection for the over 50s
- Saga Motor Insurance will preserve No Claim Discount for vandalism victims
From today Saga Motor Insurance will preserve its policyholders’ No Claim Discount in the event of a claim for car vandalism damage, offering increased financial protection for motorists over 50.
You don’t have to be a politician like Hazel Blears to have your car vandalised, the fact is that car vandalism is a growing problem in the UK, with over 1.7million separate instances of car vandalism recorded last year1 and the number of incidents has increased by 10% in the first three months of this year2. Vehicle vandalism now accounts for 17% of crime overall. With these statistics its no wonder one third of people over 50 say they are seriously worried about vandalism in their area3.
Consequently, Saga’s new protection for victims of car vandalism will offer valuable peace of mind for the over 50’s by reassuring customers that their No Claim Discount will not be reduced following a vandalism claim.
Saga Motor Insurance covers against common damage by car vandals, such as smashed mirrors and key scratches, as well as more costly damage such as graffiti and slashed tyres. Policyholders who make a vandalism claim on their motor insurance policy will need to pay the excess and provide a Crime Reference number. This cover will be offered to new customers and existing customers from their next renewal date, meaning that Saga’s customers can rest assured that their No Claim Discount will not be affected by a claim for vandalism.
