One in 10 over 50s abstain from sex for Lent
With the start of Lent today, Ash Wednesday, many over 50s will be honouring the period by giving something up. Top of the list is chocolate and junk food (15%), while one in 10 (9%) intend to abstain from sex for the next 40 days!
A quarter (25%) of people surveyed in SagaZone, the social networking site for the over 50's, say they will be fasting as part of their Christian faith. Whereas for others it is more about trying to lead a healthier lifestyle (23%) or simply to test their will power (17%).
Paul Green, Saga Group spokesperson comments: “It appears that some over 50s households are going to be sex and sugar free zones for the next 40 days and 40 nights. If it becomes all too much they can always vent their frustrations and seek support on SagaZone, fast becoming THE place for savvy over 50s”
