Saga's Hastings operation opens for business

Thursday 13 January 2011

Saga’s new insurance operation in Hastings, East Sussex, officially opens for business today, Thursday 13 January.

In December, Saga purchased a new, six-storey building - One Priory Square which stands in the centre of Hastings’ new Priory Quarter business district, created as part of the economic development programme for Hastings.

The new offices will eventually accommodate 800 people. Recruitment started in October last year and the company’s first 45 newly recruited and trained employees are in place to take sales and customer services calls today. A further 30 complete their training on Monday and the 100th new member of staff will be welcomed in February.

Saga is actively recruiting people for a variety of positions from contact centre agents and managers to positions in HR, IT, property management, cleaning and catering and is very keen to hear from people interested in a new start for the New Year.

Roger Ramsden, chief executive, Saga Insurance commented:

“Saga’s commercial success is built upon providing the over 50s with great products supported by outstanding service from well-trained staff. We are confident that we will quickly grow to be the town’s largest private sector employer and in doing so provide a range of jobs and careers for those who want to be part of the Saga success story. We are very excited to be opening our new offices in Hastings and are proud of our part in the town’s renaissance.”

To mark Saga’s opening for business, local economic development agency Sea Space—developer of the Priory Quarter business district—is holding a reception this evening. This will introduce Saga’s management team to business, education and political leaders in the Hastings area.
