Saga reveal top ten cruise experiences
Norway and Mediterranean Cruises top poll of over-50’s favourites as SAGA launches new 2012 cruise programme
Saga has recently launched its all-new 2012 cruise programme featuring the latest additions to the fleet, Saga Sapphire, and Quest for Adventure. To mark the occasion, the holiday company held a survey of its customers to find their top ten favourite cruise experiences to date.
A cruise through Norway's Fjords was named as the number one experience, illustrating how, while the over 50s are enjoying classic cruising experiences, they also have an appetite for quirky and unexpected ways to see the world.
The chance to discover Norway’s spellbinding landscapes topped a list of 45 cruise experiences spanning the four corners of the globe. Saga customers enjoyed the opportunity to take in the natural beauty of the country in a welcoming and child-free cruise environment, with exceptional service on board, VIP treatment and a great food and beverage offering.
In addition to Norway, favourites ranged from the traditional to the adventurous, including seeing geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming volcanoes in Iceland, a voyage through the 50-mile long Panama Canal, which connects the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans, sailing under the glow of the ‘Midnight Sun’ at the North Pole and the chance to visit two ancient wonders of the world – the Pyramids in Egypt and Petra in Jordan.
Susan Hooper, CEO Saga Holidays said, “The top ten cruise experiences illustrate how we have evolved in line with our customers’ expectations, offering repeat visitors and first-timers the type of holiday they want, where they want.
“From 2012, our customers will be able to experience a host of fantastic itineraries and more on board Saga Sapphire, which will bring a modern and contemporary feel to our classic cruising experience, and Quest for Adventure, which will offer an informal, adventurous ‘small ship’ experience.”
