NEED TO MAKE IT EASIER TO HAND BACK UNIVERSAL BENEFITSMonday 29 April 2013
Commenting on suggestions that pensioners should not receive benefits, Tim Pethick, managing director, Saga Magazine, said:
NEED TO MAKE IT EASIER TO HAND BACK UNIVERSAL BENEFITS
"Older people have shown themselves to be the generous generation. They devote a great deal of time to supporting charities, the community and responded very well when we appealed for those pensioners to donate their winter fuel allowance if they could afford to do so.
Iain Duncan Smith's words need to be backed by action - the government should make it easier for people to opt out of receiving universal benefits or donate them to charity. Doing the right thing must become easier, we are after all, all in this together."
