Not passing on energy levy savings to consumers a farce says saga
"This farce surely demonstrates that by doing more of the same, you end up with the same result. The over 50s saw this coming with 83% saying that green levies should be paid for through general taxation.
"By taking the collection of Green Levies away from energy companies it would not only ensure that the cost of the green levies would be based on the ability to pay, but it would also give Government real control. This would allow them to ensure that the levies are used purely for the purpose for which they were intended, but would also allow them to ensure that any cuts to the levies are genuinely passed onto consumers, not to profit margins."
