Saga passengers give award-winning escorted journey a five-star rating

June and September are the best months to take Saga’s award-winning escorted journey through Canada’s stunning landscapes aboard the Rocky Mountaineer.

Celebrating its 20th year of service, the 37-carriage train offers the most spectacular railway journey in the world.

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime holiday as the train winds its way from Vancouver, through Banff National Park to Calgary.

Each one of the train cars has reclining seats and a large picture window to view the legendary landscape. To make the experience even better, a car attendant serve drinks and refreshments as well as pointing out highlights along the historic trading route.

The Saga escorted journey starts in Vancouver where passengers can spend two leisurely days exploring Stanley Park, Chinatown, Canada Place and Gastown. For the adventurous there is an optional excursion to take a sea-plane to Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Board the Rocky Mountaineer, passing shimmering lakes and the magnificent rapids of the Thompson River, before disembarking for an overnight stay in Kamloops.

Travel on to Jasper for a two-night stopover with an optional visit to Medicine and Maligne Lake or experience a rafting trip.
Journey along the Icefields Parkway and stop at the Athabasca Glacier for a sno-coach ride. Continue to Banff where there will be plenty of time to explore Banff National Park and take a gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. A helicopter flight over the Rockies is another exciting optional extra.

The last stop is vibrant Calgary, traditionally recognised for the Calgary Stampede, with a growing reputation as a cultural, cosmopolitan and culinary destination. For those who want to see more of the city there is an opportunity to extend the holiday by two nights.
