Reach up and touch the sky on Saga’s new special interest holiday walking Italy’s stunning Amalfi Coast
Walk in the footsteps of the Gods
Saga’s new Walk on the Bay of Naples holiday includes the opportunity for guests to ascend to the crater of Vesuvius. This walk ‘in the footsteps of the Gods’ is so-called because walkers feel they can reach up and touch the sky!
This is just one of five walks, three full-day and two half-day, ranging from five to nine kilometres, during this seven-night special interest holiday.
As well as the incredible Vesuvius visit when walkers can witness smoke and gas coming out of the dormant volcano, there will be a tour of the ancient city Pompeii, one of the world’s most fascinating archaeological sites.
Another day will be spent walking through the Mills Valley which has a rich history of paper-making. Beginning in Amalfi, guests will walk to Pontone, near Ravello, and pass several abandoned paper mills. There will be time to appreciate the terraced landscape with its dry stone walls and lemon trees, as well as a visit to a paper museum to round-off the day.
The Grand Hotel Moon Valley in Vico Equense, a hidden gem on the Sorrento peninsular’s northern coast, and the comfortable base for this new Saga holiday. The traditional hotel is set in its own garden, high on the cliffs. Guests can cool off in the hotel pool, or relax on a lounger after their walks and continue to enjoy fantastic coastal views. Accommodation is on a full board basis, with a buffet-style breakfast and waiter-served lunch and dinners.
The varied walks will be guided by an expert host to ensure guests experience the best routes and panoramas across the Gulf of Naples to the slopes of Vesuvius - making this holiday a particularly special way to explore the region.
Seven nights from £767 with departures on October 1, 2014 and March 4 and 11, 2015, departing London Gatwick. Price includes return flights, airport taxes, full board accommodation, fruit and water in room, porterage, tour guide, travel insurance and cancellation cover.
