Return to rationing for older generations - but now it's their health that's at stakeMonday 17 February 2014
Saga's director of communication comments on the shocking news that our older generations are to be returned to rationing - but this time with their health at stake:
Return to rationing for older generations - but now it's their health that's at stake
"Healthcare needs to be provided on the basis of need and not rooted in age discrimination. Also, it is important to recognise that it is not just those that are suffering with life-limiting conditions that benefit from many drugs that might be considered 'uneconomical'. For example drugs that help those suffering from dementia, help make life for their family carers more manageable. If these medications are withdrawn, not only will the person who is already suffering with the condition deteriorate, so too will the health and mental wellbeing of their carer and the family around them - where does the economics factor into that decision.”
