A Named doctor in hospital welcomed by SagaFriday 13 June 2014
Responding to today's calls for a named doctor responsible for an individual’s medical care in hospital, Lisa Harris from saga said:
A Named doctor in hospital welcomed by Saga
"Our research of more than 10,000 over 50s clearly shows that patients would welcome one person they can go to for information about their medical conditions. GPs are one of the most trusted professions, and it is therefore no surprise that 71% of people wanted to see their GP have more responsibility for their overall health and social care needs.
“However, whilst this works in the community when you have a hospital admission it can be confusing and disorientating for people of any age. Often the patient and their family find themselves struggling to get the answers they sorely need. Having a named consultant is a great step in putting the patient back at the heart of receiving medical care in a hospital environment.
