Competition Inquiry into energy market welcome

Thursday 27 March 2014

Saga welcomes today’s announcement that the energy market will be the subject of a Competition Inquiry.

Saga's director of communications commented "Over 50s spend a significantly higher proportion of their outgoings on energy as such rocketing prices have a disproportionate impact.

“In a recent Saga Populus Survey 84% of more than 11,000 over 50s said they were concerned about energy price rises and one fifth said they would have to cut back on other spending in order to afford to heat their homes.

“We need to put a stop to the 'eat or heat' decision that is being driven by spiralling energy costs, so any review that can ensure greater competition or fairness for energy consumers is warmly welcomed."
