Hands-free Canary Island Hopping
Make the most of the Canaries’ sub-tropical climate on Saga’s escorted journey to explore the volcanic landscape of Tenerife and the lush, unspoilt havens of La Gomera and La Palma.
Passengers have none of the hassle of carrying cases from island to island - Saga takes care of that!
Fly to Tenerife and for a four-night stay at the Costa Adeje Palace Hotel which has sea views, three pools and a chill-out terrace.
Take a journey through the clouds to Mount Teide, the third-highest volcano in the world, where cable car takes visitors to the summit for views of a ‘lunar’ landscape. Those who walk to the peak may also spot the Teide violet which grows at 3,500m.
For those who can drag themselves from the pool again, an optional tour offers a visit to the bustling capital, Santa Cruz, scene of the battle in which Admiral Lord Nelson lost his arm. Enjoy a tapas lunch and sample wines in the oldest local vineyard, Bodega, before driving through the Mercedes Forest.
On Day Five, luggage will be taken care of while passengers travel to La Palma to spend five nights at the four-star Hotel Taburiente Playa, just 300 metres from Los Cancaios beach.
La Palma was UNESCO’s first Starlight Reserve and some of the world's largest telescopes look out from Roque de los Muchachos. Take a guided walk to view Caldera de Taburiente, the largest erosion crater in the world.
There will be plenty of time to relax but those who want to explore can take a tour to the north coast and Los Tilos forest, a World Biosphere Reserve, and drive on to San Andrés, with its 17th century church, cobbled streets and old houses.
On Day 10, there’s a hands-free journey to La Gomera, where Christopher Columbus once made a pit-stop. The beachfront retreat of three-star Hotel Gran Rey awaits but there will plenty to sightseeing to fit in. Walk through the Bosque del Cedro rainforest or visit Laguna Grande – a legendary meeting place for witches – and the valley of Hermigua, with its white, sun-washed country houses.
A stroll through beautiful Agulo and a scenic tour of Vallehermoso’s banana plantations and vineyards can also be arranged on this hassle-free holiday.
