Saga Pearl II will make her inaugural call at Haugesund, Norway, on Tuesday, May 6, as part of a seven-night Fabulous Fjords cruise.
Saga Pearl II makes maiden port call to Haugesund, Norway
Although Haugesund is a maiden port for the 400-passenger Saga ship, it has been a place of shelter for sea-goers over the centuries and is the birthplace of modern Norway. Legend has it that King Harald Fairhair, a local boy, united western Norway in 872 AD to win his beloved's hand in marriage.
Modern day Haugesund boasts the annual Norwegian Film Festival. Saga passengers can look out for the statue of film star Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jean Mortenson, who is thought to be the daughter of Edward Mortenson, who lived in a nearby village.
Saga Pearl II Captain Wesley Dunlop, said: “Norway is very popular destination with our passengers and we are very excited to introduce a new port of call. We look forward to returning again and again to this attractive new cruise port with so much history.”
Saga Pearl II will return to Haugesund on June 20 and September 10, although only the September cruise, Trail of the Vikings, has availability.
On the Trail of the Vikings is a seven-night cruise departing from Dover on September 5.
