Bring it on for 2015! Borneo Rainforest Adventure (Price held from 2014)
Travel in a small group of up to 15 like-minded people on a Borneo Rainforest Adventure to search for wildlife and discover rare flora and fauna. This Saga active explorer holiday is specially designed to appeal to animal lovers with a taste for adventure.
No visit to Borneo would be complete without seeing the orang-utans and Saga guests will be able to visit the Sepilok Orang-utan centre, in Sandakan, which returns orphaned orang-utans to the wild.
There will also be a trip to a sun bear conservation centre and a bird-watching boat ride on the Kinabatangan River.
On arrival in Borneo, guests will stay in the all-inclusive Magellan Sutera Resort (5Q) for one night and visit the Rainforest
Discovery Centre before taking to the rainforest canopy walkway and visiting the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary.
En route to Kinabatangan, there will be a stop at the Gomantong Caves where edible birds’ nests are collected by local people. Spend two nights’ full-board at the Proboscis Lodge Bukit Melapi (2Q) and listen to the unique sound of monkeys, tropical birds and insects in the rainforest.
Take a cruise around an oxbow lake for more bird-watching and embark on a further boat trip in search of wildlife on the Menanggol River. Leave Sukau for the hilly Ranau region of Kinabalu and travel on the Sandakan track where British and Australian prisoners worked as labourers during the Second World War.
Enjoy two nights' full-board at the Mountain Lodge (2Q) and visit Poring Hot Springs before trekking through the foothills in Kinabalu Park at the base of Mount Kinabalu. This botanical paradise is home to hundreds of species of orchids.
Pass through stunning mountain scenery and tribal villages to Keningau and visit the bustling stalls of the night market. Spend two nights at the Perkasa Hotel (2Q) and visit the beautiful landscaped gardens of the Sabah Agricultural Park, which home to numerous birds, insects and mammals.
Leave Keningau and enjoy a scenic journey back to Kota Kinabalu for the final two nights staying at the Magellan Sutera Resort (5Q). Pass the rainforest, paddy fields and small villages to reach the Rafflesia Centre for a chance to view the rare rafflesia which is the world's largest flower.
Explore Kota Kinabalu on a city tour and spend the rest of the day at leisure before reluctantly saying farewell goodbye to this incredible country.
