A Passage Through Indochina packs in so many wondrous sights that guests may have to pinch themselves in the incredible surroundings of Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious monument, or Cambodia’s Royal Palace complex in Phnom Phen, complete with Silver Pagoda.
This escorted tour and cruise starts in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with a stay in the luxurious Royal Angkor Resort, before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Thom.
Next is a seven-night cruise on the Mekong Navigator to experience a Buddhist water blessing at Wat Hanchey and visit the medieval Khmer temple of Nokor Bachey before sailing along the Tonie Sap river.
Guests will have every comfort on the Mekong Navigator which has a restaurant and salon lounge offering superb views plus an observation deck, spa and fitness centre. All cabins have outside views and a verandah.
Next, take a private cruise through the floating villages of Kampong Chhnang before arriving in Phnom Penh to view the glistening Royal Palaces and take a city tour by ‘cyclo’.
Cambodia’s suffering under the Khymer Rouge regime is remembered during a tour of the Choeung Ek killing fields and visit to the Tuoi Sieng Genocide Museum.
Sail on to Cao Dai temple and the colonial town of Sa Dec before a sampan ride through Cai Be floating market.
Disembark at My Tho and transfer to the five-star New World Hotel to explore Vietnam’s largest city Ho Chi Minh.
The city buzzes with life as the local people whizz along the roads on their motor scooters, yet amid the 21st century activity there impressive French colonial buildings, temples and pagodas at every corner. The city has so much to offer that a three-night stay in former Saigon will be the perfect end to a memorable holiday.
