Step aboard a luxury motor yacht to cruise Cuba’s south-western coast Lap up the atmosphere of Havana and beaches of Cayo Largo
New! Charting Cuba’s Coastline
Cuba’s colourful coastline awaits for Saga guests who step aboard MS Panorama, a three-masted vessel which is a slice of floating luxury.
With just 25 en-suite cabins, the swish motor yacht offers a sundeck and swimming platform for daytime relaxation while piano music is the live soundtrack for chilling out in the evenings.
They’ll be cocktails to welcome guests on board before sailing along the colourful south-western coast. First stop, guests will step ashore to spend a couple of days in the capital Havana to savour the unique atmosphere and visit seafront Malecón, the Havana Club rum museum and author Ernest Hemingway’s favourite haunts including the El Floridita bar, famous for its daiquiris!
Those who want to explore further can take a trip to the Pinar del Rio region, home to the magnificent Viñales Valley with its greenery-clad mogotes, isolated rocky formations that date to the High Jurassic period.
MS Panorama will sail on to Maria la Gorda, which roughly translates to 'Fat Mary' - named after a plump Venezuelan girl of local folklore. This resort is a haven for beach lovers and a world-class dive centre with colourful reefs to thrill snorkelling and scuba dive enthusiasts.
Wildlife lovers can head to Guanahacabibes Peninsula, a UNESCO biosphere reserve where miles of forest hide a myriad of archaeological sites as well as being home to rare plants and wildlife such as orchids to turtles.
Next stop will be Cayo Largo, a small island off the south coast. Endless stretches of sandy beach make this a lovely spot to roll out a towel and relax or experience water sports. There’s also another chance to snorkel with a spectrum of fish and corals to admire as well as the submarine scenery of caves and steep valleys.
MS Panorama will next drop anchor at Casilda, the quiet seaport leading inland to the Spanish colonial town of Trinidad where guests will be enchanted by the elegant architecture, cobblestone streets and pretty plazas.
Cienfuegos awaits. This beautifully preserved city has earned the name 'Pearl of the South' and visitors can tour the historic centre or opt for an excursion to the Bay of Pigs, known for the failed anti-Castro invasion that took place during the Cold War in 1961.
For guests who cannot get enough of this dream holiday there is a pre-tour three-night option in Havana and a seven-night post tour extension in the beach resort of Varadero. See details below.
