2016 sees a host of celebs turning 50, many of whom will help challenge perceptions of what being 50 is…however one thing is guaranteed, they will all be able to book a Saga holiday or cruise to celebrate their half century birthday this coming year
Adam Sandler, Kiefer Sutherland and Halle Berry qualify for Saga holidays in 2016!
In time honoured tradition Saga Travel has identified those well-known celebrities that will be hitting ‘the Big 5-0’ next year and 2016 is possibly one of the biggest perception changers so far. For the first time, just for fun, the Saga team has selected holidays for each of the stars born in 1966.
Saga Travel’s Lisa Harris said “I think the list of celebrities we've compiled that are turning 50 next year is amazing! It will certainly make people think twice about what it means to be 50 and how young it actually is. Of course this list is just a bit of fun, but it’s incredibly exciting to think these household names could soon join our customers on a Saga holiday or cruise”.

Health-conscious model and fitness guru Cindy loves hiking and connecting with the great outdoors. We suggest she laces up her hiking boots and journeys to Table Mountain for a view of Cape Town during 17-night ‘A World in One Country tour’ of South Africa.
- March 6
The comedian, writer and actor, who is best known for playing the title role in the BBC mystery drama series Jonathan Creek, always has a twinkle in his eye so he would love our sparkling cruise ship Saga Sapphire. Better still, with his love of laughter we’re sure he would get on famously with the National Treasure, Christopher Biggins who will be a guest on board the 14-night Baltic Capitals cruise which departs from Dover on August 4.

The US singer will end her Unbreakable World Tour in March 2016. To help her recover from a gruelling schedule we’re suggesting the new 14-night Balearic Island Hopping holiday to Ibiza, Majorca and Minorca where she could chill out, embrace the hippy Balearic vibe and watch the wonderful sunsets. If she still feels like dancing there’s nowhere quite like Ibiza …

The stunning star of recent films The Suffragettes and Cinderella, is devoted to her art. With such a glamorous, theatrical background we suggest she enjoys the majesty of the Taj Mahal on a choice of Saga’s tours of India. A peep at the vibrant Bollywood films might also be a fun favourite for the innovative actress.

Heston’s fixation with science and production of dramatic dishes means Saga’s 10-night escorted tour “Land of Ice and Fire” in Iceland would really provide him with some spectacular inspiration. The natural landscape of geysers, waterfalls and lava fields would give the top chef plenty of food for thought.
- August 14
Halle has reached great heights as a former Miss World, Die Another Day Bond Girl and Oscar-winning actress. You would think with all those accolades she could climb no higher, but climb she could on the eight-night Grand Tour of Switzerland. The holiday includes taking a cable car to the top of the Schilthorn where scenes from In Her Majesty’s Secret Service were filmed in 1969. While Piz Gloria is no longer the mountain-top hideout of Blofeld, a new 007 Walk of Fame has just opened at the summit.

Salma is a serious animal lover and has rescued many in her time. We think she would love Madagascar and its unique and varied species, especially the silky smooth golden lemurs. The 14-night Island Contrasts of the Indian Ocean tour also takes in the beautiful islands of Réunion and Mauritius.
- September 9
Adam is a busy actor and a devoted father to two daughters. He is known to support charity so we think he would be enchanted to see the work of Swim Vietnam, a project in the central Que Son district of the country that is supported by the Saga Charitable Trust. Drowning has been one of the main causes of child deaths in this flood prone area and the project provides swimming lessons for local children.
- November 24
The renowned opera singer has performed for the Royal Family, the late Pope John Paul II and former US presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush among many others. So to rest his voice we thought he could get away from it all at the sumptuous Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Bermuda, set in lush tropical gardens, next to a pink sand beach lapped by crystal clear water – where better to relax and celebrate turning the big 5-0.

Kiefer was born in London to Canadian actors Shirley Douglas and Donald Sutherland who moved to California shortly after his birth. He grew up in Toronto so wouldn’t it be wonderful for the actor to explore the country of his birth in style? Saga Sapphire’s 14-night Around Britain & Ireland cruise from the White Cliffs of Dover sails to Bournemouth, where he could watch the air festival, and then on to Poole, in Dorset as well as Guernsey, Ireland, Holy Loch for the Highland Games in Dunoon and the Orkney Islands.
If any of the celebrities choose a holiday with Saga they would benefit from the same inclusive benefits as every other over-50s’ passenger, including VIP door-to-door chauffeur service, return flights and transfers, airport taxes, accommodation, porterage, tour manager, tourist visa and travel insurance.
Saga cruise ships sail from Southampton and Dover and prices include all meals and entertainment, afternoon tea, 24-hour room service, welcome cocktail party, unlimited tea and coffee in selected venues, selected wine and beer with lunch and dinner, free wifi, all on-board gratuities, porterage, free shuttle bus to nearest town centre (whenever possible and when the ship is berthed more than 500 yards away).
