Saga announces three new premium river cruises
Saga has introduced three new premium river cruises with AmaWaterways to offer discerning guests more opportunities for luxury cruising. The Berlitz Guide lists AmaWaterways as the best highest-rated river cruise line in Europe and passengers can choose from itineraries on the Rhine, the Danube and the Rhone.
The ships have 4+ or 5 anchor ratings, the top in Saga’s river cruise range, and service on board is warm and personalised. Each ship is beautifully furnished and menus are designed by a team of classically-trained chefs. The spacious air-conditioned staterooms have French balconies (a sliding glass door and rail) or twin balconies, plush bedding, on-screen entertainment featuring Hollywood movies, an extensive music library and English language TV stations, plus free high-speed internet access.
Leisure facilities include a sauna and fitness area, sun deck, heated pool, whirlpool and walking track. Bicycles can be used on a complimentary basis when in port and for relaxation there are comfortable lounges, a bar and dance floor.Vineyard and Vistas of Provence
Sail on the elegant 148-passenger AmaDagio, launched in 2006 as the first custom-built river cruiser. Tour the gastronomic capital of Lyon and the Beaujolais wine region, join walking tours of Avignon, Vienne and Viviers, visit a truffle farm in Grignan and an olive farm in Arles during this picturesque sailing along the Rhone, passing vineyards and fields of sunflowers and lavender.

The Enchanting Rhine
Launched in 2014, the 164-passenger AmaSonata is more like an ocean cruise liner than a river cruise ship and Saga guests can enjoy her comfort as they sail along the Rhine on June 3. The itinerary will be repeated on the smooth and luxurious AmaSonata on September 21. Sail north on the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam with highlights including a panoramic tour of Strasbourg; a visit to Breisach, home to Europe’s largest wine cellars; a cable car ride over Rudesheim and a day in the historic city of Cologne.
Seven nights from £1899 departing London Heathrow to Basel on June 3 or September 21, 2015
The Romantic Danube
The regal AmaPrima and AmaSerena are beautifully decorated and inspired by classic ocean yachts. Enjoy nine excursions during the sailing from Vilshofen to Budapest with highlights including Passau, the Venice of Barvaria; sailing through the Wachau Valley to Krems, plus tours of Bratislava and Budapest. There will also be a chance to enjoy an evening of music at one of the concert houses of Imperial Vienna, such as the Hofburg Palace or Palais Auersperg.
