Saga combines Lake Garda holiday with four-night Venice Lagoon cruise
Relax in the serene beauty of Lake Garda before sailing on MS Michelangelo in the stunning Venetian Lagoon on Saga’s new escorted ‘cruise and stay’ holiday.
In Lake Garda, spend three nights at the four-star Active Hotel Paradiso and Golf which enjoys a beautiful setting and boasts a golf course, wellness centre, indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna.
The hotel is two kilometres from the lake so guests can enjoy relaxing walks as well as taking an included full-day’s boat tour to view dramatic mountains and clusters of villages on the lake's banks.
The holiday continues with a four-night stay on ms Michelangelo. The all-inclusive cruise begins with a welcome cocktail reception and dinner on board before a free evening in Venice to savour the island city’s intimate atmosphere. Guests can perhaps catch an operatic performance at the Musica a Palazzo or call in to the casino at the Ca' Vendramin Calergi palace on the Grand Canal.
The next morning will be spent cruising through the Venetian Lagoon which is rich in wildlife. After lunch guests can join an optional boat trip or spend free time exploring more of the majestic city. In the evening there will be dinner and dancing on board the 158-passenger Michelangelo.
There will also be an opportunity to board a small private boat to head for the island of Murano, one of the largest islands in the lagoon, famous for its glasswork. Guests will be able to watch a glass-blowing demonstration before sailing on to Burano, which is famous for its lace-making.
MS Michelangelo will cruise across the Bay of Venice to reach the coastal town of Chioggia, a modest fishing port at the southern end of the lagoon. Lunch will served on board and in the afternoon there will be an included excursion to Padua, the pilgrimage town of St Anthony. After a visit to the basilica, a stroll through the historic town centre will lead to the Pedrocchi coffee house, a favourite with the locals.
The holiday will end with a gala evening on board Michelangelo to complete this exciting new Venice and Lake Garda escorted cruise and stay holiday.
