Commenting on the announcement that the DVLA are extending the period for people to share their driving licence details with hire car companies abroad, Saga's director of communications, Paul Green said:

"It’s great that the Government have listened and lent on the DVLA to abandon the potty plan for just a three day period to share driving licence details with hire car companies abroad. The new three week period is a workable solution and will be welcomed by thousands of people who like to pick up a local car to explore foreign parts; which clearly many people do as Saga estimates that each year 1 in 25 over 50s hire a car whilst overseas."
